Delete Your Vamio Account

You can delete your Vamio account and request erasure of your personal data at any time — either directly from the app or by email, without needing to install it.

How to Delete Your Account (In-App)

The fastest way to delete your account is directly from the app:

Open the Vamio app on your device.
Tap your avatar in the top-right corner of the home screen to open your Profile.
Scroll to the bottom of your Profile.
Tap Delete Account and confirm when prompted.

Deletion completes immediately. You are signed out and your account is unlinked — you will no longer be visible to other users.

Delete Without the App

If you have never installed the app, have uninstalled it, or cannot sign in, you can request deletion by email:

Send an email to support@vamio.app with the subject line "Delete Account Request" from the email address associated with your Vamio account. We will verify your identity and process your request within 7 business days.

If you used Apple Sign-In with a relay email (privaterelay.appleid.com), include your Apple ID email alias and we will match it against our records.

What Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed from our servers:

Account identifiers — your user ID, email address, and display name.
Profile photo and display preferences.
Drive history and participation records.
Location history — all location data from drives you participated in.
Uploaded content — photos and files you shared in drive chats.
Device tokens and push notification subscriptions.
Chat messages — your messages are tombstoned as "[deleted user]" for other participants to preserve message thread integrity (required for app data integrity compliance). No personal information remains in the tombstone.

What Is Retained (and Why)

A small amount of data is retained after deletion for legal and safety purposes:

Anonymized aggregate analytics — no personally identifiable information, retained for product improvement.
Abuse reports — reports filed against or by your account are retained for 12 months for trust and safety review.
Tombstoned participant records — pseudonymous "[deleted user]" entries in shared drives to preserve data integrity for other participants.

Deletion Timeline

Immediate — you are signed out, your account is unlinked, and you are no longer visible to other users.
Within minutes — your personal data is removed from our production systems.
Up to 90 additional days — data is removed from encrypted backups through standard Google Cloud backup rotation. During this window, data is not accessible for any purpose except disaster-recovery procedures, which are audited and logged.
